Condolences

Dear Susee
I am deeply grieved over the news of the death of our beloved Para. He held aloft the banner of internationalism and solidarity with the working masses of the world irrespective of their colour, language, country and culture at a time most of those brought up in the left politics either succumbed to the nihilistic philosophy of post-modernism ,identity politics or outright national and cultural chauvinism. I was one of those who had the privilege of enjoying his hospitality, invigorating conversation he would deliberately provoke with a view to learn from his opponents as well as friends. Let me share the grief of all those who have been left behind by him. Hope they would pick up the torch he lighted and serve the humanity.

Dear Susee and Lionel,

I am so saddened by the news of Para's death. Para was a socialist with a broad vision and a deep commitment to the cause he believed in. He remained firm in his conviction and was active to the last. What an admirable person!

Dear Mallika, Uma and Santhush

I was shocked to hear death of Para. I know him well over 15 years period. When he was publishing SINTHANAI in early period, he has included political articles in Sinhala in his Tamil magazine. First time I know him as a progressive left writer. Then I met him at Stuttgart early 90s when I visited Germany as a 4th international representative. He brought me to his house and treated well two nights. Para and his son brought me to air port with my heavy baggage. In that two nights we had deep political discussion including how to solve the ethnic problem in SL. I always feel, he is as an internationalist. He believed ethnic harmony and living together with dignity of Tamils in SL. Recently I read his lecture that was given in Canada.
This is the realty of life. Para passed away but his views and ideas are
living with us. We have to have for continue that cause. My deepest
sympathies extend to Malika, Uma and Santhush.

Dear Suseendran
It is too severe loss. This great soul called by us as "Para Anna" passed away adding to the Angels in Heaven, leaving this Earth crying minus one ..Para Annai is a knowledgeable person with insight and deep sense of responsibility. He is not only knowledgably, but also ever ready and willing to part and share with others. I am ONE of those benefited a great deal from his knowledge; he is the reason and cause which attracted me towards peace, fair play and democracy towards down trodden and needy
At this moment of Great Loss our thoughts and prayers are with Malika Akka, Santhosh, Uma and families.
Somasundaram & family
